Get ready to cheer for Chennai's young runners at the Chennai Kids Running Festival 2026 – 5th Edition, a fun-filled sporting experience created especially for children. Taking place at SDAT Nehru Park, Chetpet, Chennai, on 6 September 2026, the event brings together young participants between the ages of 2 and 16 for an exciting sprint challenge.
The festival is designed to introduce children to the joy of running while encouraging fitness, confidence, healthy competition, discipline, and sportsmanship. With age-specific race categories, children can participate alongside others in their age group and enjoy a sporting environment that is both competitive and celebratory.
The event features short sprint categories, including 50-metre and 100-metre races, with categories structured according to age. A parent-and-child category is also listed for children below 3 years, while older children participate in their respective age groups up to 16 years.
Beyond the race itself, participants can look forward to a complete event experience that includes an event T-shirt, bib number, finisher medal, certificate of participation, and post-run refreshments. Top performers in each category are also eligible for additional recognition through merit certificates and mementos, based on the time-trial results.
For parents, the festival is an opportunity to encourage children to develop an active lifestyle and experience the excitement of participating in a professionally organised sporting event. For young runners, it is a chance to run with enthusiasm, meet other children, challenge themselves, and create memorable moments on the track.
Whether your child is taking part in a running event for the first time or already enjoys sports and athletics, the Chennai Kids Running Festival 2026 – 5th Edition offers a positive environment to celebrate movement, fitness, participation, and achievement.
The Chennai Kids Running Festival 2026 – 5th Edition is more than a running event—it is an opportunity for children to stay active, build confidence, experience healthy competition, and enjoy the excitement of sports in a fun and supportive environment.
Give your child an opportunity to enjoy physical activity and discover the fun of running. Participating in a sporting event can encourage children to develop positive and active habits.
Crossing the finish line can be a meaningful achievement for a young runner. Completing a race helps children experience the satisfaction of setting a goal, participating, and giving their best effort.
Age-based running categories allow children to compete with other young participants in an appropriate and encouraging environment. The focus is on participation, effort, sportsmanship, and celebrating every child's achievement.
Running teaches children valuable qualities such as discipline, determination, patience, consistency, and respect for fellow participants. These lessons can extend beyond the race and into everyday life.
From preparing for the race to receiving a medal at the finish line, the festival gives children an experience they can remember and share with their families.
Participants can look forward to event memorabilia and recognition, including a race bib, event T-shirt, finisher medal, and participation certificate, along with refreshments as listed for the event.
The festival is designed for young runners across multiple age categories, making it possible for children from 2 to 16 years to participate according to their respective age groups.
Parents can be part of their child's sporting journey by cheering them on, celebrating their effort, and creating positive memories together.
Whether your child is an experienced runner or participating in a race for the first time, the festival is an opportunity to celebrate effort, participation, fitness, confidence, and the joy of running.
